Night At The Museum 2 – Statues brought to life!

Chris and Phil are busy preparing to review the DVD release of Night At The Museum 2 in Podcast #23, but in the meantime you can watch a video of a couple of historical legends as they banter on a Bond Street bench.

NATM2 - Bench

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, bought history to life in the heart of London’s West End on Monday night, when the famous Bond Street statues of Sir Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt, roused from their years of silence to talk politics, current affairs and life on the bench. The astonishing technological feat was to mark the launch of Night at the Museum 2, released on DVD and Blu-ray on Monday 9th November and offered passers-by a unique and educational evening’s entertainment.

The illusion that Churchill and Roosevelt were deep in conversation was created using HMC Interactive’s patented Incision™ Technology. A team of digital artists spent two months planning the stunt which used a series of light projections to give the impression that the statue’s eyes and mouths were moving. The voices were provided by lookalike actors and the script written by renowned writer Jon Holmes who writes with Jon Culshaw.

Starring kings of comedy Ben Stiller, Hank Azaria, Owen Wilson, Ricky Gervais, Robin Williams and Steve Coogan alongside newcomer Amy Adams, Night at the Museum 2 is packed with fun, adventure and comedy. Picking up with the historical pals as they face their greatest quest yet, the film sees inventor/night security guard Larry Daley (Ben Stiller; Tropic Thunder) reunite with his eccentric museum companions to restore order to the world’s largest museum– The Smithsonian Institution – and save the world from the evil designs of Pharaoh Kahmunrah (Hank Azaria – Run, Fat Boy, Run), all before sunrise.

When the Museum of Natural History in New York closes for renovation the exhibits are downhearted to learn that they will spend the rest of their days deep in the archives of the Smithsonian. Facing a future without the tablet that gives them life each night they bid a sad farewell to New York and to security-guard-turned-billionaire-inventor Larry as they make their way to Washington.

Trapped in the vast archives of the Smithsonian it’s not long before the exhibits realize the move has gone disastrously wrong. The tablet of Ahkmenrah was smuggled into the museum with them and is bringing to life some of the most notorious villains in history!

Determined to rescue his friends from the historical crooks, Larry makes a courageous dash to Washington to face an army that includes the ominous Pharoah Kahmunrah, legendary mobster Al Capone, the terrifying Ivan the Terrible and military dictator Napoleon Bonaparte. Teaming up with old pals Jedediah (Owen Wilson; Marley & Me) and Octavius (Steve Coogan; Around the World in 80 Days) as well as Amelia Earheart (Academy Award-nominated Amy Adams; Enchanted) Larry embarks on a wild adventure to seize the tablet and save the world from the clutches of the evil warlords.
